Incompressibility of nuclear matter, and Coulomb and volume-symmetry coefficients of nucleus incompressibility in the relativistic mean field theory ABSTRACT The volume coefficient K(=incompressibility of the nuclear matter), the Coulomb coefficient K c , and the volume-symmetry coefficient K vs of the nucleus incom-pressibility are studied in the framework of the relativistic mean field theory, with aid of the scaling model. It is found that K = 300 ± 50MeV is necessary to account for the empirical values of K v , K c , and K vs , simultaneously. The result is independent on the detail descriptions of the potential of the σ-meson self-interaction and is almost independent of the strength of the ω-meson self-interaction.

Extraction of nuclear matter properties from nuclear masses by a model of equation of state
The extraction of nuclear matter properties from measured nuclear masses is investigated in the energy density functional formalism of nuclei. It is shown that the volume energy a1 and the nuclear incompressibility K0 depend essentially on μnN + μpZ − 2EN , whereas the symmetry energy J and the density symmetry coefficient L as well as symmetry incompressibility Ks depend essentially on μn − μp...

The breathing-mode giant monopole resonance is studied within the framework of the rel-ativistic mean-field (RMF) theory. Using a broad range of parameter sets, a systematic analysis of constrained incompressibility and excitation energy of isoscalar monopole states in finite nuclei is performed. A comparison is made with the incompressibility derived from the semi-infinite nuclear matter and w...

متن کاملTheoretical understanding of the nuclear incompressibility : where do we stand ?
The status of the theoretical research on the compressional modes of finite nuclei and the incompressibility K∞ of nuclear matter, is reviewed. It is argued that the recent experimental data on the Isoscalar Giant Monopole Resonance (ISGMR) allow extracting the value of K∞ with an uncertainity of about ± 12 MeV. Non-relativistic (Skyrme, Gogny) and relativistic mean field models predict for K∞ ...
